Lake Texoma, one of the largest lakes in the United States, is right next door to Two Bridges Ranch
Located along the Big Mineral Arm of Lake Texoma, Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge is safe haven for numerous species of migratory birds and other wildlife. The Refuge consists of water, marshy areas, and upland habitat. Canadian geese are especially prevalent, as are, to a lesser extent, snow geese and Ross's geese.
Recreational opportunities at Hagerman Wildlife Refuge include hunting, fishing, and wildlife photography. Depending on the season, you can hunt white-tailed deer, feral hog, turkey, and a variety of small game. (Note that deer hunting is only open to bowhunters.) Fishing can be by boat or along banks. Catfish, sand bass, and crappie fishing are all popular at the lake. Wildlife photography is extremely popular at the refuge and early morning and late evening are the best times for capturing images. The Refuge has two ADA accessible blinds for those who need them.
Lake Texoma is a phenomenal location for fishing, hiking, and recreational boating.
Fish found in Lake Texoma include catfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, and bluegill. Note that you can purchase a fishing license that covers the entire lake, regardless of whether you are on the Texas side or the Oklahoma side. For hiking, a number of excellent trails originate in Eisenhower State Park, located in Denison, Texas. The trails are graded by distance and difficulty, so it's easy to pick trails that match your skill level. Boating access can be found at Eisenhower State Park, five public parks, and several private marinas. Remember that boating regulations vary greatly, depending on what part of the lake you are in and the time of year.
If gambling is what you're looking for, a short drive will take you to three casinos.
Megastar Casino is a premier gaming destination, located just over the Texas/Oklahoma border. The casino features a gaming area with over 600 electronic gaming machines, including Lucky Ducky, Crazy Cherry, and Money Bags. The casino is operated by the Chickasaw Nation.
